Website Redesign - Prepatory School

Project Details

The staff at Marin Preparatory School felt that their site design was out of date, especially compared to some of their competitors. It also didn’t reflect their story or mission. The school has an innovative approach to education which includes a Spanish infusion program, yet the website felt traditional and corporate, which couldn’t be further from who they are. Some other things included on their wish list were user-friendly navigation, the ability to make edits themselves, a school calendar, larger focus on the faculty and the Spanish infusion program.

I worked with an amazing team of people in various roles across the company. Since there were a lot of moving parts to this project, including a photo shoot in California, we held weekly calls that consisted of two project managers, the school principal and me. After each meeting everyone had a new task list to complete before the next call. The calls helped so much to keep us on task and to tackle a big project in small bites.

We decided to use WordPress so the client could make edits themselves, since we knew that was important to them. In addition to design and coding, I did a few training sessions after the site was published and provided documentation for the school to use as a reference. In the end, we delivered a site with new copy optimized for SEO, new photography, an events calendar, blog, and condensed navigation that is easier to use.
